Here, we catch up with Jesse Taylor from Wisconsin, U.S.A.

Can you tell us a bit about yourself, Jesse?
My faith drives me, my wife is my best friend, and our 5 kids keep us moving. I love people and anything that will help me live outside my comfort zones. Apathy scares me and adventure is my jam.
How long have you been running for?
I ran track in high school to stay in shape for the sports I played but didn’t start seriously running until a year and a half ago (2018) when I sign up for my first marathon.

What pushes you to get outdoors in any type of weather?
I look for any way to build discipline and mental toughness. Outdoor running provides opportunity daily to maintain and grow discipline and determination that transfers to all avenues of life.
What do you feel has been your greatest achievement as a runner?
I have learned in a more concrete way through training that a goal is only as good as the discipline and determination of the everyday choices one makes. I’ve learn that in all arenas of life the foundation of a great achievement is lain by the monotony of the daily grind.
Are you training for any upcoming races?
I’m currently training for the Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon in Duluth, Minnesota in June. My hope is to break 1:30. I’m also training with my 8-year old son for the Fitgers 5k which is also in June.
How has COVID-19 changed your outdoor lifestyle?
I work crazy hours on the railroad so my running gets done in the middle of the night 95% of the time which means I’m running alone most the time. So yeah, not much.
